Nikos Papadopoulos

Dr. Nikos Papadopoulos holds BSc in Geology (2001), MSc (2003) and PhD. (2007) in Applied Geophysics from the University of Thessaloniki (Greece). He was a post-doctoral researcher (2008) in the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM). Since 2017 he is Associate Researcher in the Laboratory of Geophysical–Satellite Remote Sensing & Archaeoenvironment of IMS-FORTH. Since 2012 he holds the position of Research Associate in Chicago Field Museum of Natural History in USA. He has participated and/or organized in more than 115 geophysical projects in Greece, Cyprus, Hungary, Egypt, USA, Australia and S. Korea and has been the main researcher in 36 Greek and EU funded large scale projects (e.g. RIS3Crete, ΗΟΡΙΖΟΝ 2020, ISAP, KRIPIS POLITEIA I & II, KRIPIS PEFYKA-PERAN, ARISTEIA I & II, THALES, LIFE+, Archaeolandscapes Europe, Wenner-Gren, NSF, SERISK, LIFE, CRINNO, DIGITAL CRETE, GEOWATERS). He has extensive collaborations with national and international university and research foundations from Turkey, Hungary, Cyprus, S. Korea, USA, France and Australia in supervising graduate and undergraduate students and participating in PhD and MSc evaluation committees. He has organized and participated as instructor in international workshops (RESTAR, RESTECH). He has been awarded with research scholarships (e.g. FORTH, Fulbright Foundation) and acted as member of the Scientific/Organizing Committees and sessions of various international conferences and workshops. He is Co-Editor of “Archaeo-Remote Sensing News”, associate Editor of Archaeological Prospection and Near Surface Geophysics and participates in the review committees of peer review journals (e.g. Journal of Applied Geophysics, Geophysical Journal International, Engineering Geology, Geophysics etc). He has presented 82 Oral and 52 Poster communications in 80 international conferences and has given 14 invited lectures in Greece, S. Korea, Australia and USA. He has published 3 chapters in books, 39 peer-reviewed journal papers, 36 refereed papers in books of proceedings, 54 extended abstracts, 5 papers in international newsletters, 73 Technical Reports and his work has more than 940 citations based on Google Scholar
