Vasko (Vassilis) Demou (PhD Archaeology, University of Southampton] is a postdoctoral research fellow in classical archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an artist. His academic interests include social, community, and ethnographic archaeology. He has worked for the Ephorates of Antiquities of Xanthi, Evros and the Cyclades, participated in collective ethnographic projects at the Sanctuary of Poseidon, Poros (for the Swedish Institute of Athens’ Kalaureia in the present program), the village of Gonies, Crete (for The Heritage Management Organization’s 1st Archaeological Ethnography Fieldschool), and, currently, the district of Xanthi (for the HFRI-funded program Tracking Re-cycling: Archaeological and Anthropological Survey in the Habitat of Xanthi Region-Thrace [TRAASH]), and been the coördinator and main ethnographer of the Xanthi Ephorate of Antiquities’ Diomedeia Tell Ethnographic Programme since its commencement in March 2017.
